Teenage Counselling in Skelmersdale

Helping teenagers and Young Adults understand themselves

I understand how difficult being a teenager can be. In my experience, what parents or teachers tell me is going on and what my client tells me is going on are two completely different things. In a nutshell for me: this is being a teenager.

You might feel like everyone is telling you what to do or how to be and they are not understanding what is going on for you right now. How intense your feelings are and how the world has changed since they were your age. I know that it’s hard to explain what is going on for you, and the people around you might say the wrong thing but that doesn't mean that you’re wrong to feel how you do.

What one family finds challenging another family will feel confident in dealing with. This is normal. However, some common behaviours during adolescence include:

  • Rebelliousness and being confrontational

  • Disrespectful behaviour in the home or at school (e.g. talking back, name calling)

  • Unpredictable reactions, anger outbursts, disengagement

  • Challenging previously strong boundaries, smoking, drug use, sleep schedule etc.

Here Are Some Specific Challenges That I Can Help You With

As a teenager and Young Adult, you may be feeling:

  • Worried - constantly and uncontrollably

  • Angry to the point where it is getting in the way of your life

  • Feeling like you don't fit in

  • Lost someone you love

  • Confused about how to deal with things

  • Trying new experiences that worry your family

  • Hate school or some people in school

Even if you are feeling overwhelmed with feelings like these, therapy can help.

"Even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there." - Stephen Chbosky

Most people would describe me as open-minded, but I would say when I don't understand something, I will keep trying until I do. As I have gotten older, I have tried to keep hold of the feelings I had when I was growing up because they have influenced who I am today.

Day to day I work with teenagers like you who struggle with friends, anxiety, anger, school and everything in between. I want to help you on your way to finding happiness. So that you know how to deal with all of these things in the life you have ahead of you. It’s common to feel boxed in by the adults around you, I can help you understand your needs and the best way to interact with the things impacting you

Therapy during your teenage years can provide you with the strong base you need to help you find your way towards a better life. Even if you’re feeling lost now, I can help guide you in making lasting, positive changes in your life. Therapy can help you:

  • Be more confident in who you are
  • Know how to communicate what you are experiencing
  • Start enjoying life again
  • Understand how you’re feeling and manage your feelings in a useful way
  • Enjoy being a teenager
